Hi-Line United sets soccer referee clinic in Havre March 12

Certification allows work throughout United States

Press release

Hi-Line United Soccer is looking for a few good referees,

The soccer club is hosting the first Havre U.S. Soccer Federation referee clinic March 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at facilities at Northern Montana Hospital. People who complete the clinic and receive certification as a referee will be able to work at any youth soccer game in the United States, through high school-age games.

April Snyder of Hi-Line United said it’s important that people show interest, though seating is limited, if referee clinics are to continue in Havre. The clinics typically are held in Helena, Billings, Kalispell, Livingston, Miles City and Great Falls, and if more are to be offered in Havre, enough people will have to register for this year’s clinic.

The clinics also typically last for two to three days, but the soccer federation agreed to hold a condensed one-day clinic in Havre.

People ages 12 and older can register for the clinic and certification, which costs $65. For more information on the required online modules that must be completed before attending the clinic, and information about the clinic and how to register, people can contact Snyder at 262-7252 or at [email protected].

The soccer club, which relies on the families of its participants and the community to pay for taking local children around the state to compete in games and tournaments, also is holding fundraisers over the next few days,

Hi-Line United, which had more than 200 local players participate last year, will hold its Second Annual Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction at the Havre Eagles Club Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Free-will donations will be accepted per plate of food, and items donated by local people and businesses will be offered in the silent auction.

The drawings for two Ruger 50th Anniversary Edition 10/22 rifles being raffled by the club will be held at Sunday’s fundraiser.

Hi-Line United is teaming up with Domino’s Pizza Monday in another fundraiser for the club. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Domino’s will donate 20 percent of its sales to Hi-Line United.

The club also is still recruiting players, with youths from middle school-age up to 19 invited to play on the middle school and high school teams.
