The H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum of Hill County will re-open in its current location, Holiday Village Mall's east end, Thursday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m.
The museum has been closed since Jan. 18 to update exhibits and deep clean the entire premises.
Our new home in the Havre History Center in downtown Havre is being readied for us, but our move-in date has yet to be determined. Grants are in the works for needed renovations and the addition of a public elevator. This is a major undertaking for the Clack Foundation and a costly one, too.
Other major updates in our current location include a total revamping of the office area, and updates to our security.
A new exhibit, “Mrs. Clack’s Dolls,” will be presented to the public when we re-open. Mrs. Clack’s grandson, Turner Askew of Whitefish, donated her extensive doll collection and we are proud to display this unique treasure.
The dinosaur collection area has been updated to include “Chomper’s Corner,” a special hands-on area for children. The Fort Assinniboine display, the Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump display, The Lou Lucke Store, an old Havre business, as well as our Native American collections have all been tweaked to perfection.
Please stop in for a visit. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m., changing to summer hours on June 1 which will be Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
A very special thanks goes out to all of the museum board members, the Clack Foundation members and family members who donated many, many hours to this task. You are all appreciated so much. Thank you, too, to all the residents of Havre and Hill County for the loyal support and encouragement you’ve shown us.
We are now officially ready for the 2016 tourist season.

H. Earl Clack Museum Board, chair
