Havre High lists December Students of the Month

Ethan Lines was chosen as one of Havre High School’s December 2015 Students of the Month.

Ethan is the son of Shannon and David Lines. His siblings include Ammon, 15, Blakelee, 13, Emmaline, 11, and Madyson, 8.

Ethan transferred to Havre High School last year and is a junior. He has participated as a rifle guard for the marching band and swims for the Havre High Swim team. He also participates in the Boy Scouts as a life scout and in church activities. He enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and wrestling during his spare time.

Anna Joy nominated Ethan based on his performance in applied technologies. Ethan works hard in class and participates fully in class. Joy said Ethan “is considerate with his classmates and quick to pair up with people he has never worked with before. He includes all of his classmates in conversations and work groups and does not hesitate to help his neighbors.” He is also very conscientious with helping keep the classroom clean by assisting with pushing in chairs and picking up other student’s clutter. Ethan contributes to the classroom with his intelligence, kindness and sense of humor.

Ethan’s future plans include getting his Eagle Scout badge for the Boy Scouts and serving a full-time mission for the LDS Church.

Jessica Otto is Havre High’s other December 2015 Student of the Month.

Jessica is the daughter of Christina Petersen and Wes Otto. Her sister is Zoey, 5.

As a sophomore at Havre High School, Jessica participates with the swim team, theater, pep band, jazz band and brass choir. Jessica is a lifeguard and teaches swim lessons at the Havre Community Pool. Her hobbies include drawing and painting.

Mandy Nitz said she submitted the nomination because Jessica is a conscientious worker, kind and thoughtful. Jessica “sets a high academic standard in the classroom by her insightful comments and questions, her high quality work, and her consistent preparedness,” she said,

Nitz also said Jessica is “an encouragement and example to others.”

Jessica plans on going to the University of Montana, followed by the University of Washington for Medical School. She hopes to work at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
