Blue Ponies claim Eastern A crown

The Havre High wrestling team won its 14th consecutive divisional championship Saturday at the HHS gymnasium. And the Blue Ponies did it dominating fashion, scoring 273 points, crowning seven individual champions and placing 14 wrestlers who will advance to next week's state tourney in Billings.

The Ponies, who easily out-distanced second-place Sidney, and third-place Laurel in the first combined Eastern A tournament, got championships from Martin Wilkie (120), Logan Pleninger (132), Kody Pribyl (138), Parker Filius (152), Dane Flammond (160), Jase Stokes (182) and Travis Adams (HWT), while Tyler Schaub (205) placed second.

The Blue Ponies will now head to Billings to try and win their fourth straight state championship. For full coverage of the Eastern A, see Monday's Havre Daily News.
