We recycle

On the third Saturday of each month, regardless of the weather, you can expect to see a large crowd at Pacific Steel and Recycling on Havre's east side as people take part in the monthly recycling drive.

While many materials can be dropped off at Pacific any time, a full-fledged recycling drive is conducted the third Saturday where residents can bring cardboard, paper, glass, e-waste, aluminum, tin and numbers 1, 2, 4 and 5 plastic products.

Recycle Hi-Line, a completely volunteer organization, runs the program.

Volunteers help people unload their materials and put them in the proper containers at Pacific.

"We can always use more volunteers," said Wanda Meredith, Recycle Hi-Line chair.

Volunteers say there are things that people can do to help speed the process along.

Meredith said Recycle Hi-Line is always looking for new members. Annual dues of $25 help keep the programs going.

Recycle Hi-Line meets at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, at Hill County Electric's Hospitality Room.

• Keep recyclable types separate from each other. No mixing of cardboard, paper, aluminum, plastic, etc. together.

• Sort glass by color.

• Clean plastic containers; remove the lids but include them in the bag.

• Put plastic Nos.1, 2 and 4 together.

• Keep No. 5 plastics separate.
