Celebrating 107 years of Havre business

Chamber President Holden: Havre is focusing on young people in 2016

Havre Area Chamber of Commerce President Shawn Holden, said, in an interview after a luncheon meeting at the Duck Inn, that the Chamber will be going to great lengths to try and make this "fantastic" city as appealing to young people as possible. He said there are already plenty of things to do.

Holden was re-installed as president during the annual meeting of the Chamber Wednesday.

"We've got hockey, Northern basketball. In the summer there's fishing and hunting and camping," Holden said.

But the city is serious about finding out what more can be done to attract young people. Holden said the Chamber is considering having someone from Montana State University- Northern on the Chamber board to serve as a representative for young people. The members want to connect the business and college community and having a representative from the college will certainly help.

Speaking of things that are appealing to younger people, one new thing people can expect in 2016 is a smartphone app for events in Havre.
