Obituary - Harriet Cady-McCormick

Harriet Cady-McCormick, 63, a woman who dared to take the road less travelled, passed away on Jan. 9, 2016, after a long struggle with heart disease.

Harriet was born on Dec. 9, 1952, to John and Dorothy (Cady) McCormick. Harriet was raised in Kremlin, Montana, but sought distant horizons at a young age. By 25, she obtained a bachelor's degree in social work, then pioneered through most of Asia helping refugees find a safe haven. When she returned to the States, she continued her altruistic efforts and became a registered nurse. Her compassion and knowledge educated many of the nurses and CNA's you see today throughout the community.

Harriet was a very strong, thoughtful and selfless person, always doing for someone else. She loved watching CNN to keep up on current affairs, researching new medical information to see how it could help someone, cooking, genealogy, DIY projects, shopping and playing with her corgi, Zeta.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy McCormick.

She is survived by her daughter, Cady Arifin; her brother, Neil (Lylas) McCormick of Kremlin, Montana; her sisters, Carol (David) Farr of Centerville, Ohio, and Trudy (Jake) Meyer and Lue (Al) Waite of Havre, Montana; several nieces and nephews; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and Zeta.

`"Everyone is an explorer. How could you possibly live your life looking at a door and not open it?"

Harriet's memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Ila McClenahan and Barbara Nehls-Lowe officiating. Memorials in Harriet's name will be used to help defray expenses.
