(Jessica Simms, named the new children's librarian at Havre-Hill County Library, has written an introductory column explaining who she is and why she decided to come to Havre.)
Allow me to start off by introducing myself. My name is Jessica Simms and I am the new children's librarian at Havre-Hill County Library.
When I was a child, the library was a place of wonder and adventure for me.
My imagination ran wild in the library. One of my favorite things to do was to look at the pictures in the books and create my own story to go along with them.
My career thus far has been centered around project management, marketing and developing training programs.
I have always enjoyed donating my time to schools and community groups to help children learn through crafts, art and books as well.
After visiting Havre for the first time with my fiancé, I knew I wanted to move here. Everyone I've met has been incredibly kind which, alone, makes it easy to fall in love with this town. I love being outside, hiking, camping and even fishing, so I feel right at home between the lakes and the Bear Paw Mountains.
I am very excited and honored to be the new children's librarian at Havre-Hill County Library.
Now that I have seen the crafting section at our library, I am over the moon with all the fun stuff we will create and do.
From weekly Story Time to the Summer Reading Program, I have so much to look forward to already.
I also look forward to both meeting new people and being involved in the Havre community and thank you for such a warm welcome.
