Obituary - Danny Joe "Sam" Hansard

Danny Joe "Sam" Hansard was born Dec. 10, 1955, in Havre to Gene and Freda (Rathbun) Hansard. He died at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Fort Benton on Dec. 10, 2015 - his 60th birthday.

Sam grew up in Rudyard and graduated from Rudyard High School in 1974. He had lived and farmed in the Rudyard community since the 1980s. His many hobbies included pool, foosball, golf, bowling, cards, music, shooting gophers and cooking. Sam had an upbeat personality and a great sense of humor. He will be truly missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors are his friend/companion, Sharie Haven of Kalispell; sister, Linda Foster of Rudyard; brother, Rick Hansard of Kalispell; and six nieces and nephews, Patrick and Christopher, whom Sam helped raise, and Kari, Cheri, Travis and Jolene.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tammy Hansard, and two brothers, Dale Hansard and Jim Meyers.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at the high school gymnasium in Rudyard. A potluck reception will follow at the K-Lines in Rudyard. Sam was cremated.

Arrangements are being handled by Rockman Funeral Chapel in Chester.
