The Havre High boys and girls swim teams got their season started inside their own pool last Saturday. Now the Blue Ponies are headed to foreign waters.
Havre will travel to Great Falls this weekend for a pair of meets to close out the 2015 portion of the schedule.
On Friday, the Blue Ponies will compete in a four-team dual with Great Falls High, CMR and Hardin. The meet will good for the Ponies because they get to go head-to-head with Hardin for the first time this season – and Hardin is one of Havre's two Class A rivals.
Then, on Saturday, the challenge gets even bigger as the Ponies compete in the annual Great Falls Invitational. That meet will feature most of the Class AA schools, as well as both Class A rivals Hardin and Billings Central.
The two days of competition in Great Falls will be the end of Havre's 2015 schedule. The Ponies will return to the pool Jan. 9 with the Class A Invitational scheduled for the Havre Community Pool.
From there, the Ponies will compete in two more meets in Great Falls, as well as the prestigious Missoula Invitational, before heading to the Montana State Swimming Championships, which are slated for Feb. 12-13, also in Great Falls.
