Havre high school hockey team will make its home debut this weekend
The Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team started its 2015-16 season with a pair of games on the road this past weekend. And while the weekend didn’t start off well, the Ice Hawks finished the road trip with a bang.
Havre was in Glasgow this past weekend, taking on the Glasgow Ice Dawgs in two games. On Friday, the Ice Hawks fell 6-3, but they rebounded to thrash the Ice Dawgs 11-2 Saturday.
In the rematch, Havre goalie Bay Merker, from Lewistown, saved 13 shots as Havre’s defense was outstanding. Offensively, Havre was a juggernaut, as Clifford Lenhardt not only scored a hat trick, but he finished with five goals and an assist.
Cole Hanson also scored a power-play goal for Havre, while Nick Stump scored on an assist from Noah Kirsch, while August Eacker, Ethan Roberts, Kade Friede and Jeffrey Ralph also found the net. Barrett Kilgore and Roberts also had two assists each, while Hanson and Friede had assists as well.
In the season-opener, Merker saved 10 shots, but the Glasgow goalie was outstanding, stopping 64 Havre shots.
Offensively, the Ice Hawks got goals from Kirsch, Eacker and Stump, while Alex Stilger had an assist.
The Ice Hawks are now ready to make their home debut, as they take on Butte Saturday and Sunday at the Havre Ice Dome. The Saturday game will be at 11:15 a.m. and the Sunday rematch is scheduled for 9 a.m.
