Isabelle Getten, 95, passed away on Nov. 26, 2015, in Great Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Turner High School Gymnasium
Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Condolences may be left for the family at http://www.edwardsfuneralhomemt.com.
Isabelle Getten was born in 1920, in Turner, Montana, also known as the Big Flat country. Turner was her home until 2009, when she moved to Havre, Montana, to be near one of her sons. In April, she moved to Park Place in Great Falls at the age of 95.
Isabelle married Stanley Getten in Malta, Montana, on Nov. 14, 1940. They made their home in Turner, with the exception of a year in Columbia Falls, Montana, and a year in Oregon where her husband worked on the construction of the Hungry Horse Dam and the McNarry Dam. They subsequently moved back to Turner and raised their four sons, Al, Mervin, Russell and Gary.
In 1970, Stanley passed away. Isabelle then became a single parent to her youngest son who was in high school.
Isabelle enjoyed being a homemaker, acting as the town beautician, attending the Christian Church and attending her sons' many activities throughout their school years. She especially liked going to their basketball games as she herself played on the Turner High School girls' basketball team in the mid-1930s until her high school graduation in 1938.
She worked in the Cozy Café in Turner for a short time and retired from the United States Postal Services in 1980 after 26 years as the assistant postmaster at the Turner Post Office.
Isabelle's family has grown to include four daughters-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Turner Christian Church, 1335 Swenson Road, Turner, MT 529542, or to one's choice.
