Dane Warp named Central A Offensive MVP; 13 Ponies garner All-Conference honors
Havre High senior quarterback Dane Warp was named Central A Offensive MVP for the third straight year. He was also First-Team All-Conference four consecutive seasons.
The Havre High football team may not have won the Class A state championship this season, but that doesn't change the fact that the Blue Ponies had a successful campaign and won their first Central A conference championship since 2011.
HHS rolled through conference play and posted a perfect 4-0 record on its way to an overall mark of 8-3. The Ponies didn't finish the way they wanted to, losing 43-8 to Dillon in the Class A semifinals. But, when the 2015 Central A All-Conference team was announced and it was filled with Ponies, it served as a reminder of just how good Havre was in 2015.
The Ponies led all Central A teams with 13 total players on the team. Belgrade, which finished with the second-best record in the league this season, had 11.
Leading the way for Havre with his fourth consecutive First-Team appearance was quarterback Dane Warp. The senior also secured the Central A Offensive Player of the Year award for the third consecutive season after throwing for 2,394 yards and 23 touchdowns. In 11 games he also completed more than 69 percent of his passes, while also rushing for 192 yards and five touchdowns.
Warp was among six First-Team offense selections for Havre. Nate Rismon, who led the Central A in receiving, earned First-Team honors as did junior wide receiver Parker Filius. Travis Adams was also named to the First-Team, at offensive tackle, while Cole Keller made it at center and Jase Stokes at fullback.
The Ponies had two other players on the Second-Team offense in tackle Thomas Keith and running back Jazz Schroeder. Stokes also earned Second-Team honors at both punter and kicker.
On defense, Havre had three players work their way onto the First-Team, as Stokes earned the honor at inside linebacker. Filius made the team at outside linebacker, which was his second consecutive First-Team selection, and Rismon was named to the squad at cornerback.
Adams earned Second-Team All Defensive honors on the defensive line and Ivar Aageson made it at cornerback, while both Nate Korb and Logan Pleninger made the Second-Team at safety. Chris Gabrielsen also earned Second-Team honors at defensive end, as did Rismon as a return specialist.
The 2015 Central A Conference Defensive Player of the Year award went to a Belgrade player for the second straight season, this time going to defensive end Derek Marks.
