Public schools on lockdown during search for escaped prisoner

Havre schools went on lockdown as law enforcement searches for an escaped prisoner today, Nov. 17.

Havre police issued a press release saying they are looking for Gabriel Arkinson, 29, who who was being transported by Fort Belknap Indian Reservation police.

Arkinson, who is reportedly handcuffed and shackled, escaped from a transport van on 1st Street and 6th Avenue in Havre.

He was reportedly traveling south on foot in the 6th Avenue area.

He is considered dangerous, and members of the public are asked not to approach him and to contact law enforcement immediately if he is seen.

According to the release, Arkinson was being held on charges of attempted homicide, attempted aggravated assault, assault on a peace officer, criminal endangerment and a previous escape charge.
