Obituary - Harriette Stieler

Harriette Stieler, 93, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. 

Cremation has taken place, and graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, in Calvary Cemetery with Father Daniel Wathen officiating. 

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Harriette was born on Dec. 10, 1921, in Havre to Leonard and Evabelle (Caughren) Lumsden.  She was raised in Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 1940. Harriette began working for FA Buttrey's as a bookkeeper, and while working there, she met William Stieler, whom she married on Nov. 11, 1946. The couple's union was blessed with four children, and raising the children and working for Angstman Motors, Glacier Trail Creamery and KOJM radio station kept Harriette busy for many years. 

  Following her retirement, Harriette and William golfed at every opportunity, and went dancing at Andy's Supper Club and the Elks Club. They cared diligently for their large garden and enjoyed traveling. For the last several years of William's life, they wintered in Bullhead City, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Harriette enjoyed playing cards, reading and sewing.

  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Stieler; her son, Brien Stieler; her son-in-law, Philip Kagan; her parents, Leonard and Evabelle Lumsden; and her brothers, Francis, Doug and Dale Lumsden.

  Harriette is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Kagan of Kent, Washington, and Patricia (Mike) Gregerson of Plymouth, Minnesota; her son, Robert J. Stieler of Yakima, Washington; her seven grandchildren, William O. (Suzie) Currey, Kevin (Jennifer) Currey, Aaron (Kacey) Gregerson, David (Caroline) Gregerson, Jane (Ian) Sherman, and Tagan and Rhani Stieler; and her eight great-grandchildren.
