Austin Jones, Havre X-Country
Havre High’s Austin Jones is just a freshman. But he sure hasn’t ran like one in his first season of Blue Pony cross country. Jones has been HHS’ top runner all season long, and he was yet again at this past Saturday’s Central A Divisional meet in Browning. Jones finished sixth in the boys race with a time of 18:07, which earned him Central A All-Conference honors. Now, Jones will try and do even better when he and the Blue Ponies run in the Class A state meet Saturday in Great Falls.
Madison Huebsch, Havre Volleyball
Every volleyball team needs a backbone. A player who can always be relied upon to do her job. The Havre Blue Ponies have several of those, and one of them is senior Madison Huebsch. The HHS libero averaged 10 digs per match, as well as two aces in the Ponies’ sweep over Choteau and Conrad last Saturday at the HHS gymnasium. And for the entire season, Huebsch leads the entire Central A in total digs. Huebsch is also a standout in varsity tennis for the Blue Ponies in the spring.
