Dorothy was born in Chinook, Montana, on Aug. 6, 1926, to Oris and Mabel Chapman. She was a lifelong resident of Chinook. Dorothy graduated from Chinook High School in 1944 and the following year married Edgar G. Obie. They were together for 48 years.

To their union were born two sons, Edgar Lee and Larry. In addition to being a homemaker and devoted mother, Dorothy spent many years working along with her husband at Obie Flying Service at the Chinook Airport. She was a very common face at the airport for many, many years. Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge (she was a national duplicate bridge champion in 1963), dancing, attending her boys' and grandchildren's school activities and, above all, being with and entertaining her family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Edgar Lee (Gail) of Chinook and Dr. Larry (Loretta) of Havre and her grandchildren, Tiffany (Trever) Waldron of Bozeman, Nick (Hillary) Obie of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Morgan (Byron) Olson of Houston. She is also survived by her two adorable great-grandsons, Owen and Austin Waldron; her sister, Marietta Mosser of Chinook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, in 1993; her parents; her brothers, Melvin, Art and Harold; and sisters, Freda Miller and Frances Richardson.
