Havre speech and debate invites judges

Press release

The Havre High School speech and debate team is hosting a tournament Saturday, Oct. 24, at the high school and head coach Tim Leeds said he wanted to invite anyone who would like to judge to contact the team.

Leeds said he and assistant coach Randy Bachmeier have been contacting people from the list of past judges, but with people dropping landlines to switch to mobile phones, changing numbers and addresses, some may be missed.

Leeds said he wants to make sure anyone who would like to judge has the opportunity.

“I’m sure there are a lot of people out there we don’t know about who would like to judge,” Leeds added.

He said a judging clinic will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. In the high school library for anyone who would like to attend.

The tournament will run all day, Leeds said, with rounds at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., followed by the awards assembly. That is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The tournament offers debate, drama and speech events, and judges can request the event which they would like to watch. Leeds said he can provide more information about the events to anyone who wants that.

A hospitality room with refreshments and lunch will be available for judges at the tournament.

Leeds said people can call or text him at 406-552-9023 or email him at [email protected] for more information or to offer to judge.
