MSU-N rodeo wraps up the fall

The Montana State University-Northern Rodeo team wrapped up its fall slate of rodeos recently at the UM-Western Rodeo in Dillon.

George Marcenko and Tucker Hould came away with the UM-Western Team Roping Championship.  They roped two steers in 13.6 seconds to claim the title.

"George scored really well, and they both roped really smart, I was glad to see what they've been doing in practice come together," said head coach Doug Kallenberger.

The duo helped to lead the Lights to a fourth-place finish overall.  Colton Henderson also had a solid showing in the saddle bronc finishing fourth.  MSU-Northern had three others competing in Top 10 short round.  They included freshman Calonna Slade in barrel racing, Paige Raty in team roping and Kyle Clutter in steer wrestling.

The Dillon rodeo wrapped up the fall schedule of rodeos and the team will resume in Bozeman come next April.  Rodeo team members ranked in the Big Sky Region overall standings currently include, Colton Henderson who is 10th in saddle bronc, Paige Raty who is eighth in breakaway roping, and George Marcenko and Tucker Hould, who are third overall in the team roping. The top three finishers in each event at the end of the spring season advance to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.

"We'll be working hard to make improvements, we're a young team, but we've got plenty of talented competitors," Kallenberger said.
