FBI officials are investigating the death of 58-year-old Shawn Snow of Hays.
Blaine County Sheriff Glenn Huestis said an autopsy was performed last weekend that determined Snow died Oct. 3 of multiple stab wounds that are believed to be from a screwdriver.
The sheriff’s office got involved, he said, because his office is responsible for overseeing autopsies. The autopsy was performed last weekend by the state crime lab in Missoula.
Because Hays is located on Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, the Salt Lake City office of the FBI will conduct further investigations.
The sheriff said he understands FBI officers have a “person of interest,” but he has no further information.
The Salt Lake City media office did not respond to an email from the Havre Daily News this morning.
An obituary on the website of Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook said Snow was a lifelong Hays resident and was an expert in the laws and the constitution of the Fort Belknap tribes.
