The Havre Daily News will sponsor a forum for City Council candidates at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hensler Auditorium at Montana State University-Northern.
Questions from the newspaper staff and those solicited through the newspaper’s Facebook page will be asked of:
• Douglas Vance and Ed Matter, candidates in Ward 1.
• J.D. Cass and Caleb Hutchins, candidates in Ward 3.
• Andrew Brekke and Brian Barrows, incumbents and unopposed candidates in Wards 4 and 2 respectively, have been invited to speak for five minutes on their qualifications and their plans for the next four years.
Moderator John Ita, a Havre High School history teacher, has once again agreed to moderate the forum.
Ita will ask candidates in wards 1 and 3 questions from Havre Daily News staffers and submitted to the Havre Daily News through its Facebook page.
Details of the forum will appear in the Havre Daily News Friday.
“We have been hosting candidate forums for several years.” said Havre Daily News Publisher Stacy Mantle. “We believe it is part of our responsibility of helping to inform the community about the upcoming election.”
The forum will be held on the day most Havreites will receive their ballots in the mail. They must be returned to the Hill County Clerk and Recorder’s office by Nov. 3.
People can submit questions for the forum at the Havre Daily News Facebook page.
