Press release
Montana State University-Northern’s 2015-2016 Chancellor’s Lecture Series will present Jill Brody’s “Hidden in Plain Sight” exhibit.
This is a collection of photographs and Brody’s most masterful project to date. Brody first began her trips to the Hutterite colonies in 2010 and quickly discovered a new sense of Montana’s cultural diversity that could be observed and photographed.
“The Hutterites are a unique community that seeks a certain degree of isolation,” she said. “Yet they need to interact and engage in commerce with the outside world.”
The story these photos tell is one of faith, community and perseverance.
“The outside can learn a lot from people living in this community,” Brody said.
An artist’s talk and gallery reception will take place on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m., at Northern’s Vande Bogart Library. The talk and reception are free and open to the public.
