Agnes O. Reese passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2015, at the age of 97, in Kalispell where she has resided for the last 3 ½ years.
She was born in Poplar, Montana, in 1917 to Frank and Maria Lemieux, one of 14 children.
Growing up, she won contests singing with her sisters, and later in life sang in her church choir and with a ladies barbershop group.
She attended beauty school in Chinook, and while working as a waitress in the Grill Cafe she met the love of her life. She married Thomas (Doc) Reese in Havre on Nov. 2, 1941. Eight children were born to them there, and they resided there for 70-plus years.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years and all eight children, Linda (Mick) Miller, Laverne Miller, Winifred (Karl) Apple, Donna (Hank) Tweeten, Dallas Reese, Gary Reese, Roberta Reese and Dennis Reese. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Edna Reese and Lauriena Curtiss; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She loved Beaver Creek Park, and we have countless memories of the time we spent there.
She was active in her church and taught Sunday school for many years. She made cookies and salads for every potluck and funeral dinner.
We referred to her as a "Sunday afternoon painter." She loved painting, especially flowers and scenery, and her paintings decorate many of her family's homes.
She will always be remembered sitting at her organ in the living room playing hymns or in the kitchen cooking for a large family gathering. She was especially known for her cookies, cinnamon rolls and pot roast on Sundays.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
