The Montana State University-Northern Lights will have to wait another week to win their first football game of the season. On Saturday afternoon, the No. 19 UM-Western Bulldogs turned away the Lights 44-2 at Blue Pony Stadium. The loss dropped Northern to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the Frontier Conference.
Western, which is now 3-0, held the MSU-N offense scoreless, as the Lights haven't scored an offensive touchdown now in their last two games. MSU-N's lone points came on a 2-point conversion by Malcolm Manuel who ran back a blocked PAT.
Offensively, Western took advantage of five Northern turnovers, including two fumbled kickoffs, while junior Sam Rutherford scored four touchdowns.
The Lights will nwo go on the road to face Southern Oregon this Saturday.
