Obitaury - JoAnn I. Madsen

JoAnn I. Madsen, 63, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Sept. 13, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was under the care of OneSource Hospice.

JoAnn was born May 8, 1952, in Havre, Montana, to Joseph Clyde Avila and Daisy Rose Dipasquale Avila (later Brockman). She grew up and attended schools in Havre.

On Aug. 22, 1992, she married Gerald D. Madsen in Idaho Falls, Idaho. JoAnn and Gerald made their home in Idaho Falls, where JoAnn worked for 22 years as a bus driver for the INL.

She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. JoAnn was very devoted to her faith and looked forward to the Jehovah's Witness three-day conventions every year and seeing old friends. She enjoyed traveling, camping, riding four-wheelers, the outdoors, reading and going to movies and especially spending time with family. JoAnn enjoyed people and had a smile that would light up a room. She made friends everywhere she went.

JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Madsen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Joseph Colvin of Pennsylvania; daughter Valerie Williams of Virginia; daughter Vanessa Segura of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter Valean Labra of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her brother Joe Yellow Robe of Havre; her brother Francis Avila of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her sister Connie Avila of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her sister Genia Avila of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her sister Elizabeth Avila of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Avila and Daisy Brockman; a brother, Richard Avila; and a sister, Dolores Brough.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to OneSource Hospice for their kindness and care during Jo Ann's illness, and those at Peak Village who directly took care of her.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, with Russell Goyen of the Idaho Falls Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m., both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Havre, Montana.
