Fire restrictions eased in region on private, state and federal lands

Fire restrictions have been lifted in most of Hill County for private, state and Bureau of Land Management lands.

Fire restrictions remain in effect on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation and in Blaine County except for Fort Belknap Indian Reservation.

Cooler weather and rains have made it possible to remove the restrictions, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Campfires are allowed in the following locations:

• Blaine County

• Hideaway and Stafford Ferry campsites within the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument;

• Crooked Creek Campground.

BLM reminded people that even though fire restrictions have been removed in certain areas, people should remain very careful. One small spark can start a major fire, they said.

Burn permits are still required in all counties for any debris or agricultural burning and may have additional limits, BLM reminded people in a press release.

They are advised to check with the local sheriff’s office or fire department for information on burn permits.
