End of summer hits with Labor Day Weekend

History: This is Labor Day weekend, the official close to the summer season. The first federal Labor Day was in 1984, through 30 states had celebrations prior to that.

Events: Fossil Festival will take place in Havre this weekend, as Havre High and Havre Central graduates, as well as grads from other area schools, gather in town, but there are no celebrations planned Monday, Labor Day itself.

What’s open and closed: Schools, colleges and public offices are closed except for emergency services.

Forecast: It will be an overcast weekend, according to The Weather Channel. Saturday, showers with a high of 63; Sunday, rain with a high of 60; Monday, cloudy with a high of 63.

The Havre Daily News: The newspaper will not publish on Monday.
