Dale Clark became director of research for Northern Seed LLC Tuesday.
Clark is a proven successful wheat and barley researcher, having commercially released more than 35 wheat or barley varieties into the North American grain markets, as a result of his research.
He is a Montana State University graduate in crop science, and received his master's and doctorate degrees in agronomy and plant science from the University of Arizona.
He was employed by Western Plant Breeders, as the lead plant breeder until 2001, when Western Plant Breeders formed WestBred LLC a joint venture with Cargill. He was director of research at WestBred LLC until Monsanto purchased WestBred in 2009. He continued with Monsanto as commercial wheat breeding lead for WestBred, senior wheat breeder, and recently as a wheat technical product manager.
Clark is retiring from Monsanto's WestBred division and will now assume the role as director of research for Northern Seed.
