From Tee to Green...
The summer is drawing to an end. If I needed a reminder of that, it was certainly standing inside Washington-Grizzly Stadium Saturday in Missoula watching an epic college football game.’
Yes, there’s no better indication that summer is winding down than football.
Still, one day after the Montana Grizzlies beat the mighty North Dakota State Bison, I got a chance to turn back the clock on summer, if just four a day. And I owe a big thank you to my good friend, and former Havre High golf standout, girls basketball coach and assistant golf, Jason Wirt.
Wirt, who now lives in Corvallis and is the principal at Corvallis High School, was able to get me and his dad, avid golfer and hard-working Prairie Farms man, Jim Wirt, a round at famed Stockfarm Club Sunday.
It was all it was cracked up to be. What a magnificent golf course, what friendly and great people, at what is a very private establishment. It was a great day, especially, after watching the Griz win a great football game. So thanks to Jason and Jim for including me in what was a bucket-list golf experience for me.
Now, on to more pressing matters. Next Tuesday will be the last From Tee to Green for the season, so anyone with golf news, please get it to me this week. With football and volleyball and raking leaves and all that comes with fall, it’s time to shut the column down until another spring arrives.
And the last From Tee to Green will include the men’s league championship results from Prairie Farms. The two teams in the championship match, Master Sports and Korb Construction, opted to split the final match between last Wednesday and tonight.
Last Tuesday night was the semifinals, where Korb beat Aaron’s and Master Sports took down my team, Havre Ford. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Kyle Sheppard shot a blistering 33 Tuesday night, and he did it again in the championship’s first nine holes Wednesday.
So, good luck to the guys who will complete the 2015 men’s league championship tonight, and look for those results in the final From Tee to Green next Tuesday.
