Montana State University-Northern has opened its doors and welcomed returning and new students into the next phase of their lives.
Classes began Monday, and people have been enjoying, or dreading, their school year for a week now.
"I am super excited," said James Carden, who is starting his first year at Northern.
"It feels awesome. I feel like Northern is a really good opportunity to start again."
Carden said one of the things he likes about the institution is the one-on-one
attention. In his Intro to Computers class, his instructor directly helped him with
issues he was having with course work.
"A nice gentleman came up to me and asked if I was struggling," Carden said. "I said yes and we talked about it. I have to attribute a lot of the success I have as a nontraditional student to the warm welcome of the staff and students. It's a really good staff of people. The students are really friendly."
MSU-Northern sports an array of departments and programs for students to complete and attend - from biodiesel to nursing.
The university, under its new leader, Chancellor Greg Kegel, is ever expanding and evolving. The institution brings youth to Havre and stands as a
pillar of the community.
