Havre Trails, which focuses on promoting healthy living through hikes and alternative methods of transportation, has released a schedule of guided walks for autumn.
The walks have been in the works for months and span a spectrum of interests, from stars to botany. Most, if not all, the hikes and walks are assisted by an enthusiast in the field of topic or area of hike.
The schedule for the fall walk series is:
• Aug. 30: Botany in Beaver Creek with Terri Hildebrand
• Sept. 12: Mount Otis with Montana State University-Northern Student Activities
• Sept. 26: Sweetgrass Hills Adventure
• Oct. 4: Fall Foliage Photo Walk with Steve Helmbrecht
• Oct. 17: Stargazing with Friends of Beaver Creek Park
The events are free and Havre Trails urges those wanting to participate to visit their Facebook page, “Havre Trails,” to receive information on upcoming hikes. The exact times for each will be posted.
Havre Trails is a recent initiative that has already acquired a grant — less than a year from the group’s birth. They have focused on creating trails, creating more accessible streets and develping other projects.
The organization meets the second Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the back room of the Elks Club on 3rd Street.
