Doug Hopf was sentenced this week on charges of assault with a weapon, criminal endangerment and tampering with witnesses or informants — all felonies — to five years in prison.
Hopf, born in 1968, was arrested after officers responded to a call in November about a man who was accusing another of trying to kill someone.
Nov. 29, Hopf shot a firearm at a vehicle which one man occupied. Earlier that night, Hopf went to a bar with the girlfriend of the man he shot at and they returned to his residence afterward. The man who was shot at was driving around Havre trying to find his girlfriend when his window was shattered.
Hopf pleaded no contest to the charges June 8.
Hopf was sentenced to 20 years, with 15 suspended for the assault charge and 10 years with five suspended for the others. He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, $110 in fees and $800 for assigned counsel.
