Ponies to play in all-star softball tourney

In just its second year in existence, a pair of Havre Blue Ponies will once again play in Montana’s premier girls fastpitch softball all-star tournament.

The 2nd Annual Veterans Memorial Classic will be held Friday and Saturday in Belgrade, and Havre stars Dani Wagner and Paige Henderson will be a part of the action.

The tournament will feature four teams and eight total games. Players from Class AA, A and B-C are mixed throughout the four teams, and each team is named for a veteran. Henderson and Wagner are playing on the Charles Kompaa Navy Team, coached by Glasgow head coach Mark Falcon.

Henderson, who graduated from HHS this past spring, is a two-time Class A All-State selection at shortstop, and was a four-year starter for the Blue Ponies. Wagner is also a two-time Class A All-State outfielder for the Ponies, who will start her senior season at HHS later this month.

The 2nd Annual Veterans Memorial Classic runs Friday and Saturday in Belgrade, with the championship game set for Saturday night.
