From the Fringe...
The Montana State University-Northern football team doesn’t play a Frontier Conference game until Sept. 5 when the Lights host the Montana Tech Orediggers at Blue Pony Stadium.
However, Northern’s first season under head coach Aaron Christensen is still rapidly approaching. Because Northern opens the season with an Aug. 22 visit to Dickinson State University, the Lights will begin fall camp in less than two weeks.
And with the Lights getting ready to go, the Havre Daily News will be kicking off its annual coverage of both the Lights, and of the 2015 Frontier Conference season.
Once again, the HDN will finish out the summer with a comprehensive breakdown of the Frontier, including stories on the top returning players at each position throughout the league. We’ll also have coverage of the annual Frontier Conference Media Day, which is set for Tuesday in Great Falls. That’s when the league’s Preseason Coaches Poll will be released.
In addition to our complete coverage of the upcoming Frontier season, we’ll also follow the Lights from the start of training camp, and leading up to their season opener with the Blue Hawks. We’ll have feature stories from practice and all of the news you need to know to get you ready for the Lights’ football season.
From there, we’ll continue to cover the Lights and the Frontier Conference throughout the fall. Included in that coverage is our Game Day issue for every MSU-N home game, as well as my weekly Frontier Conference notebook.
Our complete preseason coverage will begin in Friday’s paper with a look at all of the coaches in the Frontier. Then, on Monday, the annual breakdown of the top players in the league will begin with the quarterbacks.
