Summer shopping on Town Square

15th Saturday Market starts this week

Press release

Saturday Market is set to open Saturday for its 15th year.

When the Town Square project was completed in 2001, the vision was for the Square to be a community gathering place for events and get-togethers such as the market.

Several vendors that participated in that first market are still participating: Saddle Butte Meats, Lezlie and Betty Holden with crafts and home baked goods, Susan Van Dessel and her raspberries, Ryan Pearson with cantaloupe and East End and Hartland colonies.

The market has grown from a handful of vendors in the early years to averaging 35-40 vendors. Markets have the potential to highlight what is unique about our area communities.

Saturday Market creates a connection between the vendors, community, tourists and businesses.

Vendors are welcome to set up every Saturday running through Sept. 19. The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon on the Square.

Each participants needs to bring what they need to conduct business: canopy, table, chair and such. No power is provided.

The fee to set up is $60 for the 11 weeks of the market, or $10 for each participating Saturday.

Area gardens, bakers and crafters are extended an invitation to participate in this year's market.

To participate, contact the Havre Area Chamber of Chamber, at 265-4383, as the market assigns each vendor a location.
