Havre Hill County Library
Thank you to all the volunteers and the Friends of the Library who helped at the library during our Summer Reading Program kickoff. We currently have 324 people signed up for the summer program. If you forgot but still want to sign up, stop by the library. We will be registering summer readers until July 10.
Our Scholastic Book Fair was a great success. We sold $1,601.07 in books giving the library a profit of $640.43 to spend toward children’s books for our library.
Thank you everyone for helping make the library a better place to be.
We also had a great first week of summer reading. We started with “Animal Heroes.”
Thanks to the Border Patrol for bringing their drug-detection dog to the library for everyone to see. We had 108 people come to Story Time and see the dog, so this program was a great success.
On June 24 we honored “Military Heroes.” There was a special guest to read and we set up an obstacle course around the library.
On July 1, we will honor physicians with Jessica Sheehy and have a doctor-related craft.
July 8 is “Kid Hero Day.” All kids are invited to come dressed as superheroes. We will be reading stories and making our own superhero masks.
On July 15, the Montana Highway Patrol will be here and we are going to be having a fundraiser for the Montana Hope Project. … Exciting!
July 22, Bill Chambers will be here to tell stories about “Tall Tale Heroes.” To wrap up our summer reading program we will be having the best carnival ever!
We will have a lot of community heroes to help us out during the carnival so come to the library to celebrate our community.
On July 18, from 1-4 p.m. we will have an honored guest, national bestselling author B.J. Daniels. She is local to Montana and writes the best Montana books — in my opinion. She will be discussing how she started writing, how she found her publisher and everything else that it takes to become a writer. She will also be signing her new book. Get out of the heat and come join us and meet B.J. Daniels.
This summer our goal is to get those signed up for summer reading to collaboratively read 170,000 minutes.
We also have a Young Adult Book Club Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m., movies on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. and Lego and Robotics Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Stop by the library for information or call Lori at 265-2123.
