Norman C. O'Neal, 87 of Havre died at Northern Montana Care Center on June 22, 2015. He was born Dec 31, 1927, to Thomas and Rose (Stremcha) O'Neal in Havre.
He attended school at St. Jude Thaddeus School.
Norman joined the Army during the Korean Conflict where he trained soldiers in Georgia. He returned to Havre where he began driving a beer truck to all the delivery points on the Hi-Line. He later worked for the Havre Air Force Base as a cook. When the base closed, Norman began working at Montana State University-Northern as a janitor until his retirement.
He was a very active member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He served his community as a volunteer for many organizations in Havre. He was a very devoted son to the care of his parents.
Norman loved fishing, baking, reading and driving but was known for walking 10 miles a day.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Thomas; his sister-in-law, Patsy (Nelson) O'Neal; his niece, Rhonda Webb; and his great-nephew, Joshua Rodgers.
Norman is survived by his nephew and nieces, Tim O'Neal of Havre, Kathleen Johnson (Dan Stout) of Harlem and Kelley Ferguson of Havre; along with eight great-nieces and nephews and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at St. Jude Thadddeus Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday June 25, at the church.
