Obituary - Inez Mae Damson

Inez Mae Damson, 91, of Havre died at Care and Comfort Home surrounded her family on June 20, 2015.   

Inez was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Alvin and Ida M. (Bakken) Baker. She attended school in New Rockford, North Dakota, where she graduated. She later attended and graduated from State Teachers College in Minot, North Dakota, on May 24, 1945.

Inez met and later married Joe E. Damson on March 2, 1946, in Poplar, Montana, where Inez was teaching school. Inez and Joe made their home in Poplar and later Glasgow, making their home in Havre in the 1950s. To this union were born three sons, Jed, Richard and David.

Inez loved her family and loved making a home for them. She was an active member in First Presbyterian Church of Havre where she taught Sunday school. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Inez enjoyed reading books to the grandchildren and playing cards with her family; crocheting hats and mittens for the Headstart program, knitting and sewing. Inez volunteered at the Lutheran Home and Northern Montana Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother Joe and her brother Robert Packard.

Surviving Inez are her sons and daughters-in-law, Jed and Marlyn Damson of Havre, Richard and Fern Damson in Hibbing, Minnesota, and David and Lenora Damson of Houston, Texas; her brother, Alvin Baker of Florida; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will begin 7 p.m. Monday at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church of Havre with Pastor John Bruington presiding.

Memorial donations can be made in her name to the Care and Comfort Home of Havre, the American Legion Auxiliary, 1123 McKinley Ave., Havre,  MT 59501 or to the donor's choice.
