Kathlyn D. (Kuhr) Dyer, 93, of Bozeman, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2015.
Kathlyn was born to Marian Broadwater Kuhr and Max P. Kuhr of Havre, Montana.
Kathlyn attended Northern Montana College and the University of Minnesota, earning a B.A. in English. In 1944, she moved to Bozeman, Montana, to teach at Gallatin County High School where she met Montana State University engineering student Robert J. Dyer Jr. They married in 1945 and were together for 70 years.
Robin and Kathy and their soon-to-be five children had rich, full, exciting lives while living in Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Ohio and Texas. As her children moved on to pursue their lives, she and Robin returned to their beloved Montana in 1984, settling in a beautiful house with a spectacular view of the Gallatin Valley.
Active in her church, Kathy loved meeting with her circle of quilting friends once a week, making quilts for her family and the less fortunate. Always an avid reader, she enjoyed going to the Senior Center for countless paperbacks. Kathy loved lively conversations with her family and others, and she and Robin enjoyed weekly brunch with her son Bill and daughter, Carlie, and their families.
Her home was warm, welcoming, and neat as a pin. A visit always included an offering of homemade cookies or a slice of cake. Kathy was an accomplished baker, cook and raspberry jam maker.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 70 years; her twin sister, Carolyn Rhodes of Kalispell; her brother, Paul Kuhr of Havre; sons, Bob of Denver, John of San Antonio, Max of Houston and Bill of Bozeman and their wives and families. Kathy was very proud of her 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Her beloved daughter, Carolyn Sanden, passed away in 2013.
Funeral services and a reception were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at Hope Lutheran Church.
Donations may be made in Kathlyn's name to Bozeman Deaconess Foundation - memo line: Cancer Treatment Center, 931 Highland Boulevard, Ste. 3200, Bozeman, MT 59715.
