After filing and retracting a guilty plea and losing an attorney, accused Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation embezzler Shad Huston's jury trial scheduled for today has been pushed back to October.
Huston, a Havre businessman and former Havre School Board of Trustees chairman, is now scheduled to go though his second jury trial Oct. 19 at 8:30 a.m. at the Missouri River Federal Courthouse.
The accused previously pleaded guilty to bribery, conspiracy to embezzle monies belonging to an Indian tribal organization and theft from an Indian tribal organization in August. He and his previous attorney, Michael Sherwood, filed to retract those pleas after maintaining they did not understand the full meaning of what Huston was pleading guilty to.
Sherwood was removed as Huston's attorney after the federal judge ruled in favor of a federal prosecutor's motion that maintained Sherwood had a conflict of interests after he represented John "Chance" Houle, who is to speak as a witness in Huston's upcoming trial.
Huston is now being represented by a public defender.
