Montana Wilderness Association announces 7th Annual 'Picture Wild Montana' photo contest

Press release

Montana Wilderness Association is calling shutterbugs of all ages and experience levels to show the world what they love about Montana’s wild places. Photographers can now submit their work at http://wildmontana.org/photocontest and compete for prizes totaling more than $1,000.

“The photo contest is a great way for people to express their love and affection for Montana’s diverse wild places,” said Amanda Hagerty, administrative assistant at Montana Wilderness Association. “We’re hoping to get a lot of photos this year showing people enjoying themselves in Montana’s backcountry.”

Judges will award photos that showcase the diversity of Montana’s public lands in all seasons and that capture a range of flora, fauna and people. Photographers can submit an unlimited number of photographs.

There will be one grand prize, 12 overall winners, 12 honorable mentions and one popular vote winner.

In addition to prizes, all winning photos will be published in MWA’s 2016 “Picture Wild Montana” photo calendar. All photos submitted may be used in a variety of MWA publications, including the MWA website, Wilderness Walks books, annual reports, and newsletters.

During the submission period, from June 1 to July 31, the association will display qualifying photos at wildmontana.org. During that period, anyone will be able to cast their votes at http://wildmontana.org for their favorite photos and help determine the popular-vote winner. Contestants are encouraged to use social media, like Facebook and Twitter, to rally support for their photos. During this same period, a panel of judges will determine the winning selections. Winners will be notified in mid-August.
