The 2nd Annual Williams Syndrome Awareness Walk went swimmingly Sunday as participants paced themselves around town.
The walk was meant to bring awareness to an often overlooked cause and raise funds for the Williams Syndrome Awareness organization to help families affected by the condition and for research in the search to cure it.
"They are full of hugs and loves and they are full of musical talent and abilities - things that you are going to be amazed by," Sheila Newerth said to the dozens gathered in the town square.
The group walked a circle of several city blocks in downtown Havre and participants were strung far behind Keeley Wilson, a Havre girl with Williams Syndrome, who led the charge.
Dottie Wilson, Keeley's mother, said she estimated there were 135 to 150 people at the event Sunday - fairly close to the number of people last year.
Wilson said they had already raised $2,300 online for the organization, as well as $500 from a Pizza Hut fundraiser. Registration for Sunday's event was $20.
"I think we're going to do OK," Wilson said, adding that she is definitely going to shoot for a third Williams Syndrome Awareness walk next year.
