As summer approaches, the start of the 2015 Montana State University-Northern volleyball season is not that far off. And Northern head coach Bill Huebsch continues to bolster his roster.
Earlier this week, Huebsch announced the signing of setter Samantha Martinez to an NAIA national letter of intent.
Martinez, a 5-8 setter, is a native of Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
At Trabuco Hills High School, Martinez was a four-year starter and four-year captain. She was also a three-time team MVP. As a senior, she helped lead her team to the second round in the California Interscholastic Federation championship.
Martinez also played for the Prime Volleyball Club, helping them win gold medals at the Los Angeles and Spokane Qualifiers.
"We are excited to have Samantha joining us this fall," Huebsch said. "She is a fierce competitor and a natural leader who demands great things of herself and her teammates."
Martinez joins Emily Russell, Jacy Vining, Korrie Stephenson, Taleah Ross and Nicolette Bloomer in the 2015 recruiting class. The Skylights open their season Aug. 21-22 at the Eastern Oregon University Tournament in LaGrande, Oregon.
