Obituary - Elmo B. Simonson

MALTA - Elmo B. Simonson 78 passed away Thursday April 16, 2015, at Missouri River Manor.

Services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2015, at Kirkwood Memorial Chapel in Malta. Interment will be Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Grandview Cemetery in Columbus, North Dakota. Condolences for the family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

Elmo was born on July 24, 1936, in Columbus, North Dakota, to Benhard and Ella Simonson. He was the youngest of 14 brothers and sisters. He married Lorna McDermand and together they had three daughters. They later divorced. Elmo lived in North Dakota then moved to Conrad, Montana, in the mid '50s to work at the creamery. He later transferred to Havre and worked for Vita Rich Dairy. In the early '80s he moved to Washington. He later retired in Malta, eventually moving to Great Falls to be closer to his daughters.

He is survived by his three daughters, Sandy (Fuzz) Carnahan, Cindy (Stan) Davis and Shelley (Darren) Demarais all of Malta. He has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Genevieve (Kenneth) Carlson Great Falls, Lillian Berg of Port Angeles, Washington, and Phyllis Olson of Colstrip Montana; brother, Clifford (Mary) Simonson of Great Falls; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elvira Sveet, Lillie Simonson and Myrtle Kihle; brothers, Robert, Helmer, Floyd, Leslie and two infant siblings Amelia and Duane.
