Denise "Niecee" "Meemaw" Anne Conner Ostwald-Baune, age 46, died April 29, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in her residence at Pompeys Pillar, Montana, of a massive heart attack.
Denise was born July 18, 1968, in Helena, Montana, and was adopted to Max and Alice Conner on August 19, 1968. Denise graduated from Havre High School in 1986. She then went on to achieve a CNA certificate and graduated with an associate degree in hospitality service management in 1991 from Denver.
Her son, Tynan Micheal Conner, was born on October 23, 1987. Denise married Nick Baune on March 18, 1993. Denise and her current life partner, Greg Ostwald, celebrated the birth of their son, Conner Ostwald, on Sept. 27, 2006.
Denise held many occupations and enjoyed quite a few hobbies, but her favorite was being a mother, grandmother and friend. Denise was loved by everyone who had the privilege to meet and know her. Her joyous and carefree attitude was something that trademarked who she was. She had been debilitated by severe arthritis for most of her life, but she never let that get her down. No matter how sore she was, if her grandchildren yelled "meemaw" she would get up to help them without a single complaint. She will always be remembered holding a Mountain Dew, wearing her silky pajamas and with that sly smile she always seemed to have on her face.
Denise was preceded in death by her late husband Nicky Lee Baune and daughter Kaitlyn Noel Baune.
Denise is survived by her partner, Greg Ostwald; parents, Max and Alice Conner; sisters, Carol (Terry) Tomsheck and Nora (Ken) Conner; children, Tynan (Stephanie) Conner and Conner Alan Ostwald; grandchildren, Ava, Bailey and Gage Conner; nieces, Ashley, Kelsey and Rebecca; nephews, Brian, Jason and Matthew, as well as so many other family, friends and surrogate children that she mentored, helped and loved.
Memorial services will be held at the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church in Havre on May 30, 2015, at 2 p.m. Attire will be pajamas or whatever you feel comfortable in. A reception will follow the memorial, be prepared to mourn and rejoice Denise's life as well as just chat and reminisce. Private burial proceedings will take place at a later date.
A special thanks to Smith Funeral Chapels, Pastor John Ulrich, the Methodist Church, and to all of the people who have given their support.
