Meat processors attend state convention

Press release

Local meat processors were among the representatives of about 38 processing plants from Montana and Wyoming attending the 28th annual Montana Meat Processors Association Convention and Trade Show April 23-16 at Big Horn Resort in Billings.

Jim Dumas of Big Sandy Meat Shop, who attended with Wendy and Sebastian Dumas and Richard and Christie Corby, was re-elected to a two-year term to the association’s board.

Also attending from this area were Donald and Alvina Bjornstad of Barney’s Meat Processing in Joplin.

The three-and-a-half day event included a pre-convention “Growth & Expansion” bus tour of four Billings area businesses, several educational seminars, state inspection meetings, a two-day vendor trade show and a Cured Meat Championship contest.

The Montana Meat Processors Association is a non-profit trade organization representing and supporting the meat processing industry across the state of Montana. The organization holds its annual convention the last weekend in April in a different location throughout Montana, giving different area inspected meat plants a better opportunity to attend and participate. The 2016 convention is scheduled for April 21-24 in Jordan.
