Three people stabbed at home

Havre police officers arrested a 17-year-old boy on charges that around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, he broke into a residence and stabbed three people, Havre police said this morning.

Havre police have not released the name of the suspect.

Officers arrested the youth on three charges of attempted homicide, one charge of aggravated burglary and on a state District Court felony warrant. He was transported to Cascade County Juvenile Center to be held until he is tried.

Officers for the Division of Criminal Investigations finished processing the apartment, located on the 1000 Block of 11th Street West, Sunday and the officers involved are finishing up their reports to send to the county attorney, Gina Dahl, today. Dahl will decide whetehr to file them as formal charges.

The victims were a 20-year-old woman, a 19-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man. Two of them were mercy-flighted to Great Falls from Havre and one remained at Northern Montana Hospital, Acting Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich said.

Matosich said he has no updates on their status or conditions. He said he believes the three victims were living in Havre as college students, and he is not sure what the motive for the stabbing might be.

The original call for the break-in was at 4:24 a.m. Saturday from a neighbor of the victims.

“An individual reported that there was a female in her apartment that had been stabbed,” Matosich said. “At about the same time, we also received a domestic dispute call and officers responded to that. There was an individual there who fit the description of the suspect.”

Officers took the individual into custody.
