Box Elder students awarded GEAR UP scholarships

Press release

Box Elder High School seniors, Jenna Parker and Alex Gardipee, received GEAR UP Pathways Scholarships.

The scholarship, valued at $23,100, may be used at any private or public 2- or 4-year institution that grants associate or bachelor degrees. In order to compete for the Pathways Scholarship, applicants must complete a project.

Jenna Parker used her original photographs to make posters. She sold the posters and donated all profits to the Box Elder High School English Department to continue purchasing novels for students.

Alex Gardipee created a 30-minute video showcasing the importance of education in his tribal community. Alex asked for and received interviews from community, local and state leaders.

The video has been viewed within the school and will be showcased to a larger audience on May 28.
