After culminating a career that spanned more than 29 years of dedication to duty and integrity with the U.S. Border Patrol, Havre Sector’s Chief Patrol Agent Christopher N. Richards retires today

“I am honored to have served with some of the greatest men and women in law enforcement and I leave the Border Patrol, and Havre Sector, with the knowledge and confidence that it is staffed by some of the very best,” said Richards.

Richard’s long career in the Border Patrol began in Tucson, Arizona. Since then, he has held numerous leadership positions, and prior to his selection as chief patrol agent of Havre Sector, he was assigned to the U.S. Border Patrol headquarters as an associate chief, where he had oversight of five sectors that accounted for 43 percent of all apprehensions and 48 percent of all marijuana seizures attributed to the U.S. Border Patrol.

“Chief Richards epitomizes what it means to be a Border Patrol agent,” said Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke of Havre Sector, “He is a strong and visionary leader, and his legacy will leave a lasting impact on the Border Patrol for many years to come.”

Richards is also considered a subject-matter expert in Custom and Border Protection’s Office of Training and Development, where he authored course curriculum for command preparation courses for CBP Leadership.

During his tenure as the chief of Havre Sector, he has been the Border Patrol’s principal leader for anti-terrorism and homeland security missions for Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.
