Western Heritage Roundup entertains
With performers from Lewistown to Alberta, Canada, the 21st Annual Western Heritage Roundup event, organized by the Montana Country Poets and Pickers group, took place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Chinook.
People performed a variety of acts, including poetry, songs and stories at Chinook High School's Sweet Auditorium.
Dale Mailand, secretary of the Poets and Pickers, said his favorite part about being involved with this event is "seeing the people enjoying themselves and meeting all of the different performers."
Fred and Shirley Dobirstein, of Alberta, Canada, performed songs at this year's event.
Shirley said this is their third year participating.
"Most of Fred's songs are about the West country in Alberta, like the mountains and where we went trail riding," she said.
Fred added that he has been writing songs since 1995.
"I just do it for a hobby," he said.
Proceeds will go toward Chinook High School's FFA and the Montana Country Poets and Pickers group.
